Data controller
Luca Baldestein, Italy — support@becomingjournal.com.
What we collect, and why
- Order data (name, email, billing country, purchase details) — collected by Stripe when you pay, used to deliver your files and provide support. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Delivery emails — your email address is used to send your download link via Resend. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Marketing emails — we send occasional emails about Becoming to people who opt in: prospects who request the free Day One page, and customers who tick the marketing box at checkout. We use your email address for this only where you have opted in. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you submit the Day One form or tick the box at checkout. Processor: Resend (email delivery); if enabled, Kit (ConvertKit) for the email sequence. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Technical data (IP address, browser, pages viewed) — processed by Vercel, our hosting provider, to serve and secure the site. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Analytics and advertising events — if Google Analytics is active, it records page views and traffic data so we can understand how people use the site. If Microsoft Clarity is active, it records interaction and scrolling data so we can diagnose page usability. If the Meta Pixel is active, it records page views and purchase events to measure our advertising. Legal basis: consent. You can block these with any standard tracker blocker without affecting your purchase. Where the Meta Pixel is active with your consent, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd act as joint controllers for the collection and transmission of that event data to Meta, under Meta’s Controller Addendum. Meta is solely responsible for its subsequent processing, as described in Meta’s Data Policy.
Processors
We use Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Vercel (hosting and file storage), Google Analytics (traffic measurement), and Microsoft Clarity (interaction and scroll measurement), and Meta (advertising measurement). Each processes data under its own GDPR-compliant terms; transfers outside the EU rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention
- Order and invoice data: ten years, as required by Italian tax and accounting law.
- Delivery links: expire thirty days after purchase. Delivery and support correspondence: up to twenty-four months after your last contact with us.
- Marketing emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address.
- Server logs: retained by Vercel for a short period (typically up to ninety days) to serve and secure the site.
- Analytics and pixel data: governed by your consent and the relevant provider’s own retention terms.
We do not sell or share your data for any other purpose.
Cookies and consent
We use only strictly necessary storage to run the site until you give consent. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and advertising measurement (the Meta Pixel) load only after you click “Accept” in our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time via the “cookie preferences” link in the home-page footer. Full details are in our cookie policy.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or export of your personal data at any time by writing to support@becomingjournal.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale/sharing. Because we do not sell or share, there is nothing to opt out of — but you can exercise your choices at any time via the “do not sell or share my info” link in our home-page footer, or by emailing support@becomingjournal.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
